STILL LANDING
A major practice-based outcome of Gretel Taylor's PhD, Still Landing was a 3-screen installation, which included a live performance in some iterations. Filmed on Warlpiri country (Purtulu) in Northern Territory, Gretel explores her relationship, as a white woman of European descent, with this Aboriginal place. Gretel consulted with senior Warlpiri custodians on sites for the film and some of these women's voices are featured in the soundtrack singing Tjurkurpa (Dreaming) songs of Country.
Still Landing was presented at Arts House Meat Market, North Melbourne (2008), Desert Park Alice Springs as part of Shifting Ground (2007), SEAM conference, Critical Path Sydney (2009), Dancehouse as part of ReelDance (2009), and Time, Transcendence, Performance conference at Monash University (2009). This is a short excerpt of the 25-minute work.
